I've been neglecting this blog. A lot of things have (or have not, if you get what I mean) happened offline and taken up a lot of mental and emotional bandwidth. I've cooked and tried new recipes. I haven't really developed one of my own recently. As I said, mental bandwidth was fully occupied. I've knit a little, because it calms me, and well, do I need a reason. I could populate every WIP Wednesday for a year. But FO's have been slow to come. I do have one for Friday though, which I will share on Friday itself.
I'm taking part in a 'decorate your house' c/kal this month and the next and the theme is obviously to make something for use in the home. I started work on a crocheted chevron blanket last week and was really liking how it came along when sadly, my friends pointed out that it was wide enough to cover my queen sized bed and that I'd run out of yarn pretty quick. Not to mention run out of steam. So it went and took a dip in the frog pond. Ribbit.
I so needed a quickie 'pick-me-up' project and this one, worked in chunky yarn and huge needles seems to fit the bill.
I'm not terribly pleased with the fabric. I'd love the drape in a sweater. I don't like it for a cushion cover. To be honest, the cushion already has a thick fabric cover on it which I will remove before putting this one on. But still. The yarn also seems lighter than bulky weight to me. I last used it on my Love Squared blanket with 8mm needles and was pretty pleased with the resulting fabric. Who wants a stiff blanket anyway? I will probably use this pattern as a template to cover all four of my cushions-- or maybe three-- but I'll need to use smaller needles or a thicker yarn.
Pattern: 4 cables pillow
Using Bernat chunky in aran colorway; 10 mm needles (US 15)

Pretty cables, Best of luck with your projects.
ReplyDeleteThank you :) And thanks for becoming a follower. I actually just finished the cushion and will post about it on FO Friday.
DeleteJust add more cables over the fronts and back. That way you could still use the same yarn. I always think about making cushion covers, but never get around to it. LOL
ReplyDeleteGood idea. I'll try that sometime. In the meanwhile I have finished this one. And CO for another in superbulky this time and I can feel the difference!
