So, you may or may not have noticed that some of my posts have magically (???!!!) disappeared. That's not by accident, magical or otherwise. The DH and I have decided to keep some of the more personal stuff hidden for now. Crafty stuff, yes. Cooking and recipes, ditto. Just maybe nothing too personal. I'm truly sorry about that, but I will still be posting and sharing anecdotes etc. Anyway, to this end I have revoked the publishing rights of RSS Graffiti, the app I was using to push my blog feeds to facebook. This way only interested parties read the blog. For some strange reason, my top visits are redirects from a porno site in Russia. Now that just beats em all.
Anyway here's whats been happening lately: I finished my first FO of the year. Can you believe all of Jan and half of Feb went by without a single finished object from me? Neither can I. Sad, but true. I had such a hectic time all of November and DEcember that I kind of lost my knitting mojo. And my cooknig mojo and my general zest for life, partly because I was exhausted and partly because I missed home and family. Of course, where DH and Leo are is home for me, but where I grew up and where my family lives is also home; how can it not be?
The cold was getting to me as well. It has been a cold and snowy winter. Much worse than last winter which was pretty much an aberration and not the norm. Still, I've heard you never truly adjust if you were born in tropical climes. I don't know about that, of course, but its only my third winter here so who can judge?
I have cooked and come up with a few recipes of my own which will be posted in due course. Sadly, we are such hungry and greedy little pigs that we EAT before remembering to take photographs and I'll often go 'yipes! get the camera' while pig#2 (leo is pig#1) calmly continues munching. Sad.
The biggest decision I've made so far this year? Knit from stash. Yes, you heard me and my knitterly friends are probably dropping into dead faints right, left, front and center. I know, its terribly hard to be a knitter (or crocheter, or crafter in general) and not hoard. However, my personal economy is in straitened circumstances (read I'm saving or trying to save up for something) and my biggest expense is not clothes, shoes or accessories, but yarn. Sigh.
Lovely, luscious, silky, fuzzy, pretty...but so expensive! Yarn is cheap in India. Agreed most of it is acrylic but it is soft acrylic. Not as plasticky as some acrylic here and infintely cheaper. i could knit me a whole sweater for about a dollar. I kid you not.
Also, theres the tiny fact that I'm running out of space to put stuff. I mean it takes up space especially, if like me you tend to buy sweater quantities at a time. So, sadly..I have to admit that I have no more space left to put any more yarn. Baskets, bags, bins...all overflowing with yarny goodness.
And of course, when I use up some of the more plastic like yarn I already have, I can buy luxury stuff. Like merino. Madeline Tosh. Silk. Alpaca. I really like alpaca. Cashmere. Angora. Bamboo..
you get the drift. don't you?
